How do I play?

Place one dog in every row, every column and every colour region. Dogs never touch each other, not even at the corners. Tap a cell to mark it with an X, double-tap to place a dog, and swipe to cross out many cells at once (click, double-click and drag on a computer). Every puzzle has exactly one answer.

What happens when I make a mistake?

X marks are always free. Only a dog on the wrong cell costs one of your 3 hearts. Before the heart goes, the game shows which rule the dog breaks, or why it can't go there. If you run out of hearts, try the level again; your hearts refill on every new try.

I'm stuck. Is there a hint?

Yes. Tap Sniff a hint and your Dalmatian shows the next logical step: the cells that explain it glow, and you press Apply to use it. You start with 5 hints and earn one more for every 5th level you clear for the first time.

Can I undo a move or start a level again?

Undo steps back one action at a time: a tap, a whole swipe, a dog or a hint's marks. It doesn't give hearts or hints back. To start a level from scratch, open Settings and choose Restart level.

How many levels are there?

Over 10,000, from 4x4 to 10x10, and after that endless puzzles. Open the levels screen to replay any level you have unlocked.

I find some colours hard to tell apart.

Turn on Settings → Colour-blind help. Every region gets a letter and a pattern.

Can I turn off the animations, music, sound or vibration?

Yes. Tap the gear for Settings: Sound, Music, Vibration and Reduced motion each have their own switch.

Can I change the language?

Yes, in Settings → Language. Sniffdoku speaks English, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).

Is my progress saved? Does it need the internet?

Your progress is saved automatically on your device. Deleting the app deletes its progress. Sniffdoku plays fully offline. In a browser on bossgames.io it saves in that browser.

Privacy

Sniffdoku sends anonymous gameplay statistics, which you can turn off at Settings → Share anonymous stats. Read the privacy policy.
